Our Lil' All-Star

Last week we noticed that Blake was doing this side arm throw when he was playing out in the backyard with Nathan. He asked Blake where he learned to throw like that and Blake said, "The kid across the street taught me to do it that way." Nathan was so mad....it was a horrible throw and it was "garbage" as Nathan called it. So they had been working on it every night trying to get Blake back to his old throw. It's weird how fast a bad habit can be picked up. Blake was really struggling and was even getting mad at himself for throwing so bad.
We had a game on Saturday and Nathan kept reminding Blake that he had to work and focus on his throwing during the game. During one of the innings, Blake was pitcher and everytime he threw to first base, it was a side arm throw. Nathan kept yelling thru the fence to remind Blake to focus and to stop doing that. The Coach even went out on the field and talked to Blake at one point to remind him as well. A few innings later, the Coach leaned over the fence and yelled to Nathan that he needed to talk to him after the game. We thought for sure it was about Blakes new throwing habit.
So after the game, Nathan goes to talk to the Coach. He meets us at the car and tells us the big news!!! The Coach did not want to talk about Blakes new side arm throw...he did however want to tell us that Blake had been chosen along with two other boys on his team to play in the All-Star game at the end of the season. We were so excited to hear that!!! Blake's eyes got so big when Nathan told him. He couldn't believe it!!! Of course Blake called all the grandparents to tell them the big news.....Nana told him he would be on a baseball card one day and Blakes response was, "Yeah, I probably will be!!!"
I can't wait to watch Blake and his two friends play in the All-Star game in a few weeks. We have had a great season and Blake has really grown as a player. we have grown to really love the sport and I know that this will be the start of something big for him.
Congratulations Buddy! We are so proud of you!!
