Did we jump the gun?

Right before Thanksgiving, Blake came to me one night and said "potty", so being very surprised, I took him into the bathroom and sat him on the potty. And in a few short seconds, Blake did his business. I was so excited. We both were excited. I wish that I could have captured his expression on camera. I praised him like any mother who is tired of changing diapers would. Then, the next night Nate and I asked Blake if he had to go potty, and he said "yes, potty". So off to the bathroom we all ran. We put Blake up on the mighty throne and again in a few short seconds, Blake does his buisness. Again, we were all excited. Although excited, I began to think about how you hear if you pressure your kids to potty train to early, you could be making it worse, as they could get frustrated and not want to continue any more. So we decided that we would only ask him at night before bed and if he said yes, then GREAT! But if he said no, then we would not force this. So for the next couple of nights, we asked Blake if he had to go potty, and for the next couple of nights, he said yes. Needless to say there was no business left behind. I told Nate that we should now invest in a little boy potty so that we would not have to sit and try and hold him so he wouldn't fall in the big one. So out to Walmart we go to buy the perfect potty that has a sheild protector, a detachable top so that it can fit on a regular toliet seat if desired and the bottom turns over and can be stairs to step up to reach the big potty if also desired. We bring it home and the next night, we ask Blake if he wants to use the potty. He says yes, but then once seeing his NEW POTTY, he changes his mind. Since the purchase of the perfect potty, Blake has not wanted to use the potty at all. When we ask, he says yes, but then all he wants to do is open and shut the lid of his potty. Oh well! It was worth a shot and hey, at least we have a potty for him when he IS ready.
