I can not believe that I am writing about Blake going to Kindergarten! I am sad and excited all at the same time. Everyone is so excited for Blake and he is just beside himself. The child care workers had a big party for him on Tuesday as it was his last day there, after 5 years, he is finished with the Yellow Fish Child Care Days!!!! They got him balloons, a big poster where everyone wrote special messages to him, stickers and even a ice cream party!!! Thanks to everyone who has taken care of our lil man over the years, loved on him, helped potty train him, learn to write his name, memorize scripture and so much more. We appreciate all of you!!
Tuesday was also a big day because we went to the school to meet Blake's teachers. Blake will go to his Kindergarten class all day on Tuesdays, Thursdays and every other Friday. Because we did not think that was enough for him, we enrolled him into another program that meets in the in the same building right across the hall from his kindergarten class on all day on Mondays, and Wednesdays. So he has two rooms, two teachers, and lots of new friends to meet!!!
We met Mrs. Pennix first and she is his regular Kindergarten teacher and she seems great!!! Blake was excited because he has Anna, who is a really good friend of his in his class. He also knows two or three other kids as well from church. Then we met his other teacher, Mrs. Thompson, who was the teacher that did his assessment and personally loved him. We were excited to see he was in her class. He loved both his classes, but what was most important to him, was to find......the lunch room. He wanted to know where he was going to be eating everyday. We walked around the building for awhile checking all the rooms out, then got to go outside and see the school bus. Blake and Mckenna loved this part!!!
We came home, got his pack~pack, as he calls it, with all his supplies packed up, packed his lunch and all got in bed to read a book.
He was up at 5:45 am wanting to know if it was time for school. Nathan somehow convinced him to go back to bed, and hour and a half later, we woke him up, and all got ready for a big morning. We then headed out to the bus stop and I was getting nervous, Blake didn't stop asking questions and Mckenna kept trying to convince us that she too was riding the bus, while Nathan was watching the clock as the bus ended up being 20 minutes late. Once we saw the bus coming down the road, my stomach was in my throat, I couldn't believe this was actually happening. I was putting my baby on a bus with people I did not even know, and then sending him to a building that would be 25 minutes away from where we were going to be. As he saw the bus coming, he says to us, "My heart is beating so fast." He was so excited he couldn't stand it. He got right on the bus, sat in the front seat and began to wave goodbye to us. It was so cute! I did really good until I got in the car and headed to work, I cried the entire way there. It was a long day for me. Blake will stay after school on Mondays and Wednesdays, so I went to get him about 5:30. I walked around the hallway and saw him and he sees me and he says, "Mom!! I don't want to leave, I want to play the game!!" Wow! Great to see you to bub!!! HA Well at least I know he likes it there!!!
Today was his 2nd 1st day of Kindergarten and he was with Mrs. Pennix. He came home with a huge smile on his face. He got to ride the bus to school this morning and back home. He loves the bus!!! We asked him how the day went and he loved it. He says his teacher is really nice and he gets to sit with Anna in class as well as at lunch! I am excited about the year ahead and what we all will learn. Thank you to everyone that called, prayed and asked how everything went. Here are just a few of the pictures of the last 3 days.

Oh Amanda! I am bawling! What a great post and a great way to describe how moms feel putting their little ones on the bus for the first time. Noah starts Monday and every time I think about it my stomach is in my throat! I guess that is why God made us moms so strong so that we can make it through these firsts! So glad to hear Blake had an awesome first week!
I couldn't remember my password when I first saw these! As Scott says, "Blake lives life really LARGE!" Yes he does, thank you Lord. He will be the talk of many teachers - all good, some ornery. Many fun years ahead. Love you bunches!
