23 Months

I thought that this photo was appropriate since the girl wants a pop tart every morning for breakfast. I have a hard time getting her to sit still for my monthly birthday shot of her these days. I will try everything I can to get her to look at the camera and smile, but she won't. She totally does this to me on purpose and it frustrates me. Oh well, that will change soon, as Blake went through the same stage.
I caught her this morning at breakfast eating this pop tart and just had to laugh. She is just like me in so many ways that it is really scary. We have the same temperament, the same facial expressions and the same loud voice. Poor Nathan, I feel so bad for him. He now has two of us exactly alike to deal with.
We have been struggling with her night time routine and it has really taken a toll on both Nathan and I. It takes us well over an hour or so to get her to sleep, then she will usually wake up anywhere between two and four times each night. We knew that we really needed to do something about it since it has been this way for well over a month now, and Nathan and I were starting to get frustrated with each other because of it. So since Friday night, we have just left her in her room and let her cry it out. Each night seems to get easier and easier for all of us. The night time wake ups are still the same, but we will work on just one thing at a time for right now. I am just happy that we might have her in a good routine now for bedtime, (keeping my fingers crossed at least). Our next big challenge with her will be potty training. YIKES!!!
We said this morning on the way to work that we can not believe that she is almost 2 years old already. I feel like it was just yesterday that we celebrated her 1st Birthday. We celebrate with big parties for the kids birthdays every other year, so we did her big party last year and since Blake is 5 this year it is his turn for a big party. So there is not a lot of planning to do for her big day.
I was looking back at all her photos and was comparing how much she has really changed since this exact time last year. It is amazing how much she looks like a little girl instead of a baby like in this picture when she was 11 months old.

I hate that you're having to go through this, although I am relieved that I'm not the only one. K has the same problem. We've already did the 'crying it out' once with her and it lasted 1 week. Since we traveled it's back to square one :) She's getting so big. I feel like it was just yesterday when we visited you at the hospital!
