Some Firsts for the Year

We had a lot planned for today with it being Thursday and our day off. We were going to take down the christmas decorations and get the basement organized. The kids and I had a playdate planned with some friends and were looking forward to it. But some unexpected things happened with one being our first real snow of the winter. Nate and I both went to bed not feeling 100% last night and then woke up about 1 this morning feeling worse. After many trips to the bathroom, one of us sleeping on the couch and the other in the guest bedroom, and only a few hours of sleep, we think that it might have been food poisoning (luckily the kids did not eat the same thing as we did last night).
Nate made a trip to Kroger around 3 am this morning to get us some powerade so he didn't have to go out once it started really snowing. Things started to slow down for us both around 4 or 5 this morning I think. It was about and hour or so later, the kiddos decided it was time to get up and play. Nate was way worse than I was and felt like a truck ran over him, so I brought the kids downstairs, got them some kind of breakfast (dry cereal and juice- thats all the longer I could stand up without falling over) and got back on the couch and under the blankets. This is where we have been ever since. The kids have been okay, watching movies, then get down and play for a little bit, then come back up and snuggle with me some more.
The snow started here about 9:30 A.M. and really hasn't stopped. It is not coming down hard, but everything is covered. We had talked to our friends last night and again this morning and decide it would probably be best to cancel instead of trying to go out in this weather with the kids. We did sit by the back door for a while and watch the neighbor kids play in the snow. Blake and Nate had planned on going outside today too, Blake is really bummed about not getting to now. But enjoyed watching the girls make him a snowman and sled down the hill. The snow actually is really pretty and it looks so peaceful outside. I am kind of glad that I am sitting in here watching it from under my warm blanket. Sad about our situation, but loving the relaxing part of it.

I LOVE the living room shot!! It's SO TRUE how unraveled things can become in such a short time. Hope you're already feeling better though! See you soon :)
