22 Months old

The month of December has been a big month for us. In a weeks time, we have taken away the pacifer from Mckenna and put her in a toddler bed. Not sure what we were thinking but it all happened and here we are.
Mckenna loved her pacie, she wanted it at night time, at nap time, in the car and if we were out and about in stores. I had really wanted to get rid of this bad habit before she was a year old but that did not happen. So the other night, right before bedtime, I thought 'what the heck, lets try not giving it to her and see what happens.' It was a rough night but in two or three days she was over it and would even say herself...'Pacie yuckie. No Pacie!' It was too cute.
Then exactly a week later, I walk into her bedroom to see her straddling the rail of her crib trying to get out of her bed. This has always been a fear of mine for one of the kids to fall out of bed. So I went down to the basement, dragged the toddler bed up to her room and put her to bed. Well, this has not gone as well as the I hoped for. We are really struggling with her. She will not stay in bed and cries and cries and cries. I can rock her to sleep and she is completley out cold, the second I lay her down, she wakes up. I have created a montser really. It has taken anywhere from an hour to two and half hours until she finally falls asleep. It has been a long two weeks for us and I am ready for things to be back to normal. I just wonder what big milestone will happen next with her.
She loves to say her bedtime prayers and sing songs each night. She tells you which song she wants you to sing and then stops you mid-song to start a different one. She likes routine just like her brother and is very strong willed. She will not take no for an answer and will repeat to you what she wants a hundred times, all the while giving you those puppy eyes to make you melt and breakdown. She loves shoes, purses and can often be found in our closet trying my shoes or Nates shoes on for size. She loves to carry around my purses and say "Bye! Be Back!" She loves to walk through the aisles of Target looking at the babydolls, Elmos, and books. She is just starting to get into watching movies. She loves mommy to rock her but would rather sit with her daddy on the couch at night and snuggle. She will torment the day lights out of Blake and can win in a 'don't smile' contest with him any day. She is one tough cookie...but the sweetest one you will ever meet.

You poor thing, didn't know the toddler bed wasn't going as well as the paci! Hang in there and remember there will be a time that she won't want to snuggle like she does now. Have a great day!

Hmmm. Was I just reading about Mckenna - or was I remembering you?!
