Making Valentines

Last night Blake and I started making his valentines for his class party on Friday. I was really excited about these this year and once I told him what we were going to do, so was he. I am tired of giving out candy to kids when I am not big on giving my own kids candy. I am tired of buy cheap toys that will just get thrown away when it gets home..like the ones that come in our house do. So I wanted to make something that would be fun for us to make together and fun for kids to receive and to actually use. So we made heart shape crayons for each of his friends. They turned out great!!!
They are really easy to make, here is an easy step by step process. You take your old crayons and take all the paper off of them and put them all in one bowl. This probably was the most time consuming part of it all. Depending on how many 'new' crayons you want to make, depends on how many 'old' crayons you will need.
Take a knife and cut them up into several smaller pieces and them mix them up in a small bowl. Blake loved mixing them all up, it looked really neat to see all the colors mixed together.

You will need to use the silicone bakeware sets for this. It is to hard to get them out of metal ones once they have cooled. I set my individual hearts out on a baking sheet and then started filling them with the pieces of crayons. I made sure not to put too many of the same color in one heart. Put enough in to make a thin layer.
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees and bake for about 15-20 minutes. Give them plenty of time to cool when they are done. I put them on a cooling rake for a while as well.

Once we were done, we put them on a construction heart that said 'Happy Valentines Day for "Crayon" Out loud!'
They turned out really cute!!
