I wanted to surprise Nathan with a night away but didn't know how I would pull it off. Well I did it!!! I was so excited I could not wait. Nathan and I do not keep to much from each other so to keep this from him for over 2 weeks was difficult for me. There is a Bed and Breakfast that we like to go to down in Burlington Kentucky. Our first visit was almost 8 years ago. We just love going there, it is beautiful, quiet, and amazing food all in one. How could you not love it.
So I started the planning with finding someone to watch the kids, so I called my mom. She recently moved a little closer to us so it was not going to be a difficult trip for her. Once we knew the date of when she could come, I booked the room!! I was so excited!! The next several days seemed to drag on....Thrusday could not get here fast enough. Finally, it was the day to reveal the big secret I had been keeping from him.
He usually leaves work around 3:40 to get home and get Blake off the bus on Thursdays. So he left and I left shortly after him so he would not suspect anything yet. My Mom followed me into the house and he just looked at me and said, "What is going on?" I laughed and said, "Well, do you want to go out of town for the night?" He of course said "YES!" I then told him that was good because I had our bags packed and ready to go!!
We gave my mom all the details for the kids and then we were off. We headed south to our favorite destination. He was so excited when he found out where we were going.
We checked into the B&B, then headed back out for dinner. We ate at the Tousey House just around the corner from the house. It was amazing. In all the years that we have been going there, we never had eaten at the Tousey House. We had a wonderful dinner and talked about things that we needed to get caught up on and just enjoyed not being interrupted by the kids. Back at the house, the lady that owns it is so sweet. She leaves fresh chocolate chip cookies on the bed for you that are amazing. We watched a movie and just enjoyed spending time with each other again without the kids interrupting us or needing something for the 5th time after they had already been in bed.
The next morning, we got ready and enjoyed an amazing breakfast of fresh fruit on top of a bowl of homemade granola, orange juice, tea and coffee, Creme' Brullee Stuffed French Toast, eggs and bacon. We were in heaven. We went back to the room and just relaxed for a while before we had to check out.
We spent the rest of the afternoon just stopping a different shopping places we like to go to but never have time or don't want to take the kids into. We then went to Panera for lunch before heading home.
It was an amazing weekend and I truly enjoyed being with my best friend and being able to focus on just us. I love the kids and they are so much fun but we just need those times where we just focus on the two of us.
Nathan is an amazing husband and I am not sure what or where I would be without him in my life. He has made me grow so much more than I have ever expected and I am forever grateful for him and his unending love for me.
