Several months ago while doing our nightly devotions with the kids, Blake just randomly blurted out that he had asked God into his heart. Nathan and I just looked at each other and then back at Blake and asked him when he did that? He just said it was a while ago. We were so surprised to hear him say this as he had not mentioned or brought up anything about it at all.So we prayed with him and told him that we would talk more about it and go through a book that we had gotten here at CACC with him. Several weeks went by and we kind of forgot about it really. Then Blake brought it up again one night at dinner that he would like to go through the book soon. So he and Nathan sat down for a few nights and went through the book and talked. Blake had so many questions, yet seemed to know all the answers to most of them and even to the ones Nathan was asking him.
We prayed that night again and Blake said he wanted to get baptized before the end of the year.
We were going to do it here in PA, but then I realized that we would be headed home soon for Thanksgiving and thought it would be neat to do this special event with family surrounding us while home. We also realized that he would be getting baptized on November 21st. exactly 6 months until his birthday. He was born May 21st and born into God's Family forever on November 21st!!!
Two days prior to his big day, Blake blurted out that he could not wait to get baptized. When Nathan asked him why his response was, "Because I want to go to heaven!!" It was just too cute. Finally his big day arrived and Blake was so excited. We were actually able to baptize him at the church Nathan and I grew up at, not the same building as they had relocated, but the same church.
When we asked Blake who he wanted to baptize him, he immediately said "Both of you!" I was so excited about this. I figured he would want to have Nathan for sure, so when I asked him why both of us, he said, "Because I love you both and didn't want you (mom) to be left out." How sweet is this kid!!!
So we are in the water, both Nathan and I had prepared something to say, Nathan read some scripture and then prayed. Nathan baptized Blake and then we all hugged. As soon as we turned to walk back up the steps to get out, Blake turned the other way and went swimming!! It was hilarious!! True Blake style for sure!!!
Here are a few pictures that were taken from my phone so not very good, but still have them to look back on!!!
